Moses Bridge Cutting Through Fort de Roovere’s Moat

This modern pedestrian bridge has the capacity of turning miracles into technological possibilities – the Moses Bridge (or Loopgraafbrug in the native language). This bridge looks more like a trench than the usual conception of a bridge, but it gets you across no matter how you call it. Located in the Netherlands, the fascinating bridge parts the waters surrounding a 17th century Dutch fort, allowing visitors to experience a whole new perspective of the shallow moat – too deep to march across and too shallow to boat across – that surrounds Fort de Roovere. Designed by RO and AD Architecture company, the bridge is made from sustainable FSC and PEFC certified Accoya wood. The bridge was treated with a nontoxic coating that protects it from fungal decay, extending its durability. Scroll down to see a video showing the interesting construction and visit Fort de Roovere to enjoy this unique experience.  Its designers says that “the bridge enhances the accessibility of the restored fort and  landscape and contributes in unique ways to the social task of strengthening the recreational side of nature. It fulfills a natural, educational function.”

Paulina and the Truffle

Unique house designed by Ensamble Studio looks like a cave equipped with modern bed, sink, shower, and a fireplace.

The exterior was made out of concrete and the interior volume was created using stacks of hay. It took one year for a cow named Paulina to eat all the hay and empty the cave. Truffle house is located in Laxe, Spain

IRL Funhouse designed by Armin Blasbichler

Located in South Tyrol, Italy, Armin wanted to make a playful house for his wife and children, outfitting his abode with doors within doors, doors in ceilings, an exterior that resembles log stacks, and all manner of clever uses of light. I want to be inside that.

Tronic tapped into their architecture backgrounds for the film they created for Herzog & de Meuron’s 57-story hi-rise residential tower in Tribeca. Combining a live action helicopter shoot with extensive CG modeling, the film shows the poetic beauty of how the building was conceived, beginning with the elements of each floor descending from the Manhattan sky and landing into place on top of the Anish Kapoor sculpture.
