DESIGN NERD FLASH CARDS

Another silly little side project. Now design-geek-hipster-interwebbers can teach their kids their ABC’s with more culture-relevant examples.
This project has received an absurd amount of attention from all sorts of folks. They’ve been pinned to death. They’ve been featured on Huffington Post, Buzzfeed, Laughing Squid, Design Taxi, Behance, a myriad of blogs and so very many more. I’m really flattered that there has been so much interest in this little project. It was just made as a time filler over a few evenings when I had nothing else to do.
I’m looking for sources to get these produced. As soon as they available I will post that goodness all over the front page of my site on twitter on Facebook on the blog and everywhere else I can.

Moses Bridge Cutting Through Fort de Roovere’s Moat
This modern pedestrian bridge has the capacity of turning miracles into technological possibilities – the Moses Bridge (or Loopgraafbrug in the native language). This bridge looks more like a trench than the usual conception of a bridge, but it gets you across no matter how you call it. Located in the Netherlands, the fascinating bridge parts the waters surrounding a 17th century Dutch fort, allowing visitors to experience a whole new perspective of the shallow moat – too deep to march across and too shallow to boat across – that surrounds Fort de Roovere. Designed by RO and AD Architecture company, the bridge is made from sustainable FSC and PEFC certified Accoya wood. The bridge was treated with a nontoxic coating that protects it from fungal decay, extending its durability. Scroll down to see a video showing the interesting construction and visit Fort de Roovere to enjoy this unique experience. Its designers says that “the bridge enhances the accessibility of the restored fort and landscape and contributes in unique ways to the social task of strengthening the recreational side of nature. It fulfills a natural, educational function.”

ReCraft Your Bench: Morse Table by Pudelskern
Steel bench anyone? It’s super-fun with the yarn, and they’ve done a wonderful job with the details. Nice design, guys. I think this bench would be lovely at the base of a king-sized bed. Turn them so the stitching is on the left and the right. Butt them together, and there’s a statement piece, by golly! I’d put these benches in a very masculine grey and white master bedroom, then I’d paint the headboard wall that dark pink color found in the yarn. What a great place to come home to.
